Our next "Peek at the Past" entry comes from Jeremy Lovell, 2011 graduate of MHS who shares his favorite memories of his time in Martinsville.

He said that he has great memories of Prevention Theatre and Basketball. “I loved all the people I got to meet doing Prevention Theatre. The excellent teachers who took the time to run those things for students were at the root of all those things. I looked up to Mr. Shelton. I loved his philosophy of teaching boys to be men on and off the court. Specifically, I remember the basketball team all worked at a food drive in Casey. We set up and handed out food to the community. We also organized Thanksgiving baskets we delivered to the Martinsville community.”

Jeremy also wants to say thank you to Mrs. Norton for “spending so much time trying to wrangle some crazy teens into learning lines and putting on shows. We delivered an important message in Prevention Theatre. While a member of Prevention Theatre, I enjoyed traveling to various schools and churches, putting on shows. We had a lot of late nights practicing for our shows and even more laughs doing it. One show I remember specifically was in Marshall and in one of the skits, I was a superhero-type character and I really leaned into it in a silly way.”
He added, “my favorite memories are of the amazing teachers who truly cared.”

Thank you Jeremy for the walk down memory lane…we are so glad that you felt cared for by amazing teachers at MHS!
