A handful of MHS students went to a business competition at Eastern Illinois University. A third place trophy was awarded to one of our groups: Hector Herrera, Ireland Parker, and Izzy Phillips who had all worked on a presentation together. The trophy now sits in Ms. Henn’s room. Another group: Chelsie Claypool, Cassie Pickens, Serenity Finkbiner, and Sadie Svika all tried their best to work on a Microsoft Excel project with minimum prior knowledge of the program, which they were given about two hours to complete. They may not have placed, but Ms. Henn is proud of them for doing their best. Everyone was awarded a participation certificate, along with a free t-shirt and drawstring bag. A free lunch was provided to those who chose it, while others decided to eat at the food court.
Ms. Henn, the business teacher at Martinsville said: “It was our first time going to this event and I’m very pleased with the students; we hope to go to more events like this in the future.”
