teacher

Let's give a Bluestreak welcome to a new face to MHS...Kaitlyn Stephens from Robinson, IL will be the new JR/SR High School PE Teacher. She will also assist with some coaching for the District. Miss Stephens attended Indiana State University and received a Bachelor of Science- for Physical Education All Grades & has a Minor Early Childhood. Ms. Stephens was asked to share a bit about her background..."I am from Robinson, IL and have one older brother. In high school, I participated in volleyball, cross country, track and field, and color guard. I attended Indiana State University for four years. My best friend also attended ISU, so she and I have lived together for four years now. My brother is getting married this October and I am going to be standing on his side as one of his groomsmen. Some of my favorites include the color blue, sweet tea, chocolate, ISU basketball/baseball, dolphins, cats, traveling, and going for walks/runs."

She continued: "I am very passionate about what I do. As a physical education teacher, my goal is to teach my students ways to live a healthy life and help them create lifelong activities. Everything we do in class can be done at home, even without the correct equipment. I want to provide my students with all the tools, resources, and knowledge that I can to help them become more physically active in their daily lives. I am very excited to become a part of the Martinsville Community as I start my first year of teaching. I have already felt very welcomed by the school community and now I am ready to show the rest of the community how eager I am to teach and provide for their youth. During this first year I hope to build relationships and become a role model for the students."

We are thrilled that Miss Stephens is eager to be a positive role model for our students and we can't wait to see her success in the classroom and on the court as a coach!
