Let's welcome Trevor Howald of Marshall, IL as a new math teacher at MHS! Mr. Howald attended Indiana State University and earned a Bachelor of Science degree for Middle School Mathematics. He will also help coach basketball.
Mr. Howald lives in Marshall and has a fiancé named Taylor. In his free time Trevor enjoys playing golf with friends and spending time with family. Mr. Howald says "I am a very fun and competitive person, and have competed in a PGA Tour Sponsored golf event in 2019. I also run a golf smithing business out of my garage during the summers to fund my golfing hobby and any potential tournaments that I may play in."
He added, "my teaching style preaches discipline and accountability. One of my main goals is for students to be lifelong learners, and in order to do so, students can expect to build skills in independent and collaborative learning settings. Students can expect to be challenged in my class, but should also know that I am always there to help them through the productive struggle to combat learned helplessness."
Mr. Howald said he is very excited to start meeting and building relationships with the students, staff, and community members of Martinsville. "I am looking forward to engaging in a fun productive classroom environment, and also having the opportunity to introduce my coaching philosophy this year in basketball" he noted.
