For the 2024-2025 school year, we are asking MHS Alumni to submit why they will be "Forever a Bluestreak". Today's entry is from Carrie (Maxwell) Cross who is also a 6th grade teacher in Martinsville.
"I have been a Bluestreak all of my life. From spirit sparklers in elementary school to the first time putting on a basketball, volleyball, cheerleading, or softball jersey I have always felt the Bluestreak pride. Through the years, I have been supported by teachers, coaches, and group sponsors. The small school setting allowed me to get to know everyone in my class and be supported by their parents and grandparents, too. Some of my fondest memories include learning to bake cakes and make buttercream mints in Mrs. Neidigh’s class, going to our yearly Prevention Theater conference, Spanish trip, and senior trip to Washington, DC. Since then, I have continued to live in and support my community by teaching in the district, coaching, raising my own kids here, and volunteering on committees throughout the county. I continue to encourage students to be 'forever a Bluestreak.'"
Thank you for your submission Carrie! We need to hear from all MHS Alumni...send information to: vnorton@martinsville.k12.il.us
