MHS Juniors and Seniors participated in the first ever iD Castings Manufacturing Day on October 4th. iD Castings presented a variety of opportunities for the students to explore the myriad of careers the manufacturing plant in Martinsville offers to community members. Students heard about multiple engineering divisions that are involved, as well as, robotics and mold line crewmen who make up just a small part of the foundry industry. iD Castings maintains a full foundry operation, as well as, two types of casting processes, each optimized within a single location right here in Martinsville. This enables ID Castings to deliver a broad range of castings across multiple industries using manufacturing efficiencies that are state of the art. Our students were able to create their own molds in an activity called "Foundry in a Box". We thank iD Castings for allowing our students to take a plant tour, participate in activities, and watch the pouring and molding of castings!
