Sarah Wilhoit, MHS Alum, spoke with MHS students about the career opportunities for court reporters. Sarah informed the students that she has been a court reporter for over 25 years and that there is a current shortage of reporters in Illinois. She shared with students about the specific program at Lake Land College in which students can earn their credentials for court reporting and captioning. Sarah brought a stenotype machine to demonstrate the process. Throughout the program at LLC, students will build up their typing speed on a steno machines, similar to the one she used in the demonstration, from beginner speeds to a high level speed of 225 words per minute. Sarah presented information on a several pathways to receive court reporting certification and encouraged students to consider the field as a possible career.

Thank you Sarah for demonstrating for our students the steno machine and for sharing your passion about court reporting!
