Alaina Morgan, MHS Alum, spoke to students during the first Career Forum of 2025. Alaina is a 20 year old business owner right here in Martinsville. Alaina owns and manages Morgan's Café.
Alaina told students that it is okay to go off to college with one dream (she did just that by playing college softball). Alaina shifted gears when she thought she wanted to be a special ed teacher. It turns out that wasn't for her either so she set a path toward nursing. She said none of those turned out to be what she loved. This led to the opportunity to become a small business owner so she decided to purchase a restaurant.
She informed the students that "anything you choose in life is hard...choose your hard...if you choose something you love, you won't ever "work"...you will get to do what you are passionate about." Alaina added, "I don't ever look at what I do with dread; I love getting up and going to the restaurant every day to be with my awesome customers."
When asked what helped prepare her to be a small business owner, Alaina attributed her involvement in HS FFA with Mrs. Jenness as it helped her so much. She does wish that she would have taken advantage of all computer courses though that could have helped her with finances and money management. Following the presentation, Alaina presented each student with a coupon to the restaurant. MHS is proud of Alaina and her accomplishments as a young alum!
