Mrs. Skidmore got to sit back, relax, and enjoy the story today as one of her very own second graders took over as the special reader!
This Bluestreak did a wonderful job reading a great story to his classmates and sharing his love of reading with his friends. There’s something extra special about seeing our students confidently step up and become the teacher for a little while!

Mrs. Smith’s second graders had an apple-solutely awesome day learning all about apples! They explored different varieties of apples, learned about apple seasons, and created apple books and projects.
Of course, no apple lesson would be complete without a taste test! The students sampled different kinds of apples and voted for their favorite.
And the winner was… 🥁🥁🥁
GRANNY SMITH!
Now the big question is… were they really voting for the apple, or their teacher? 🍏
Either way, we think Granny Smith is an excellent choice and always a winner at MES! Great job, second grade! 💙🤍
Our sixth graders have been working hard in science learning all about SPACE!
Today, they had an extra-special visitor come to see their presentations, our very own retired space expert, Ms. Shotts!
To say everyone was over the moon to see her would be an understatement!
Ms. Shotts is truly a Bluestreak legend. There are just some people who walk through the doors of our school and instantly make the building feel a little happier, a little more joyful, and a whole lot more like home...and Miss Shotts is one of those people. 🥰
We loved having her back at MES, sharing in the learning, listening to our sixth graders, and bringing that special Shotts sparkle back into our halls!

Mrs. Young’s first graders had a fantastic day learning all about Johnny Appleseed! They rolled up their sleeves and made their very own homemade applesauce right in the classroom, along with completing lots of fun apple-themed activities!
And speaking of growing…one special first grader had an extra exciting week because she was promoted to BIG SISTER! What a wonderful reason to celebrate!

🏐 Martinsville High School Volleyball Serve-a-Thon Fundraiser! 🏐
The Lady Bluestreak Volleyball program is hosting a Serve-a-Thon to help raise money for our volleyball program!
Each player will have 25 serve attempts, and supporters can pledge a dollar amount for every successful serve—or simply make a flat donation.

We invite our families, friends, and community members to come out and cheer on our Lady Bluestreaks as they complete their Serve-a-Thon!
Admission is a free-will donation, with all proceeds going directly to the high school volleyball team. There will be no concession stand.
Cash or checks are accepted. Checks can be made payable to Martinsville HS Volleyball.
Payments are due October 16, 2026.

Mrs. Schnetzler’s U.S. History took learning beyond the textbook by re-enacting the Boston Tea Party!
Students had the opportunity to step back in time while learning more about the events, people, and circumstances surrounding this important moment in American history.
What a fun and memorable way to bring history to life!

Coach V (Mr. Herrera) has our Bluestreaks FIRED UP in PE with his Impossible Shot Challenge! Each day, Coach V chooses one student who has stood out by showing GRIT, leadership, hard work, and being a great example for their classmates. That student earns the chance to step up and attempt the IMPOSSIBLE SHOT! And guess what?! Since school began, FOUR Bluestreaks have already MADE IT! Students who conquer the Impossible Shot get their picture added to the Challenge Wall AND get to choose a special prize! We love that this challenge isn't just about making a basket, it's about recognizing students who work hard, encourage others, and give their best! Way to go, Bluestreaks and way to keep PE exciting, Coach V!
All Hail the Kings & Queens of Kindergarten!
Our kindergartners were feeling pretty royal today! After reading special stories, they created their very own crowns and officially became the Kings and Queens of Kindergarten!
There’s definitely no shortage of royalty or cuteness in our kindergarten halls!
It’s always a great day to be a Blue Streak!
From learning about their grandparents and sharing special family memories, to recess fun with friends, to making music and having a little fun along the way, our Blue Streaks are making memories while they learn!
We love seeing all the smiles throughout our school!
Preschool can always make you smile! These little learners bring so much joy, laughter, and sweetness to our halls every single day. Their smiles are simply contagious!
The Lady Bluestreaks traveled to Arcola tonight and picked up a WIN!
Catch them in action tomorrow night at Sandoval @ 6:00 pm.
Our fifth graders put their engineering skills to the test by designing and building balloon-powered cars! Students measured how far their cars traveled to see whose creation could go the farthest.
This is always a favorite activity, and it’s easy to see why! Lots of creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, and FUN in fifth grade!
We drew our first Math Missions winners of the 2026–27 school year!
Each day, our 1st–6th grade Blue Streaks work on building their math fact fluency, from addition and subtraction to multiplication, division, and even fractions! When students pass a Math Missions challenge in their classroom, they earn a numbered Math Missions dog tag to add to our wall.
Once a month, numbers are randomly selected from the wall. Any students whose dog tags match those numbers have their names entered into our prize drawing! Our lucky winners get to visit the office and choose a special prize.
Congratulations to our first Math Missions winners of the year!
Keep practicing, Bluestreaks! The faster and more confidently you know those math facts, the stronger mathematicians you become. Your dog tag could be one of the lucky numbers next month!
Mrs. Feliciano’s kindergartners had an apple-solutely awesome day filled with hands-on learning!
They used apples to measure how tall they are. They explored and tested different kinds of apples. And they enjoyed lots of other fun, apple-themed activities along the way!
Learning is always a little sweeter when apples are involved! These little learners had a bushel of fun today!
